The NCAA baseball tournament selection has concluded. Vanderbilt will host the Nashville Regional beginning on Friday. The Commodores will face 4 seed Xavier at 7 PM CT on Friday at Hawkins Field, with 3-seed Washington and 2-seed UC Santa Barbara being the other two teams in the regional.
We also learned today that the Nashville Regional will be paired with the Louisville Regional. Should the Commodores advance out of the regional, they will likely travel to Louisville to play the #2 national seed Cardinals in the super regional round. The other three teams in the Louisville Regional are Ohio State, Wright State, and Western Michigan; there is an outside shot that Vanderbilt will host a super regional if Louisville doesn't make it out of their regional.
Vanderbilt should obviously be favored to advance out of the regional, but a potential super regional matchup with Louisville will be difficult. Vanderbilt is seeking its third straight trip to Omaha; the same Louisville Cardinals denied them in the super regional in 2013.
