Vanderbilt S Andrew Williamson Signs With Indianapolis Colts

Williamson was a two-year starter for Vanderbilt at strong safety.

Vanderbilt Commodores SS Andrew Williamson will be one of seven Commodores to attend NFL rookie camp, as the two-year starter signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts.

Williamson, a fifth-year senior from San Antonio, TX, appeared in 49 games for the Commodores and made 19 starts, including ten in the 2015 season.  As a senior, Williamson notched 28 solo tackles, 41 total tackles, forced a fumble, and broke up four passes; he also registered a sack.

Per the linked story, the Colts have had an undrafted rookie make the roster in each of the past 17 seasons, the longest active streak in the NFL.  It sounds as though Williamson may have picked a good organization to go into, but generally, NFL backups need to be versatile, so it will help him if he can back up both safety positions. We wish him the best as he embarks on his professional career.
