Frank Coppet, starting cornerback for national powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas, made his commitment to Vanderbilt official on National Signing Day.

D.J. Moore. Myron Lewis. Casey Hayward. Andre Hal. Could Frank Coppet be the next link in Vanderbilt's chain of All-SEC cornerbacks?

The Commodores received their official commitment from three-star recruit on Wednesday morning. Vanderbilt invested early on Coppet and earned his verbal pledge after his junior season. That gamble paid off, as Coppet put together a strong season as a starting corner for the nation's No. 21 high school program in 2015. He had four interceptions and 43 tackles for St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Coppet brings solid size to the cornerback position at 6'0, 180 pounds. While he straight line speed isn't elite, his fluid hip movement and strong instincts allow him to be a proficient cover corner. If he continues to grow, he could wind up filling a few different roles in Derek Mason's defensive backfield.

Coppet chose Vanderbilt over scholarship offers from Illinois, Syracuse, Bowling Green, and Georgia State. He was the fifth member of the Class of 2016 to deliver his Letter of Intent to Derek Mason and the Vanderbilt Commodores.
