Vanderbilt has its Power 5 opponent figured out for 2019. The Commodores will travel to West Lafayette, IN to face Purdue for an early September game against a Big Ten opponent.
Vandy has to schedule one major conference opponent every year beginning this fall. That won't be a problem for the 'Dores - they've got Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Stanford, and now Purdue on their roster for the future. Vanderbilt will meet the Boilermakers for the first time since 1942. They're 2-0 all time against their Big Ten black and gold counterparts.
Purdue is in the midst of a downswing on the gridiron. The Boilermakers have won just six games in the past three seasons. Half of those victories came over FCS opponents.
The university also scheduled games in 2024 and 2025 against Georgia State. The Panthers played their first season of FBS football in 2013. After a 1-23 start, they rallied to a 6-6 season and a bowl bid last fall.
With Purdue and Georgia State on the docket, here's what Vanderbilt's future non-conference opponents look like. Keep in mind these schedules are subject to change.
