Vanderbilt may have lost the Independence Bowl on Monday, but the Commodores did get some good news this week.
Happy to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career @VandyFootball !!! #AnchorDown pic.twitter.com/EoLZseHwyA

That’s Jonathan Stewart, a 6’8”, 292-pound offensive lineman from Lawrenceville (GA) Mountain View, now Vanderbilt’s 14th commitment in the Class of 2017 — and the fourth commit along the offensive line. Importantly, though, Stewart is the first offensive line commit with the size to play left tackle. He’ll need to add some strength at Vanderbilt, but he has a good frame for the tackle spot. Rivals rates Stewart as a three-star recruit and the #92 prospect in the state of Georgia. 247 Sports also rates Stewart as a three-star and the #170 offensive tackle prospect in the country. Stewart claimed offers from Virginia, Iowa State, and Wake Forest (among a host of mid-major schools.)
Here is Stewart’s highlight tape.
