Last year, there was a lot of distress over recruiting when Vanderbilt went well into June before landing its first commitment of the 2017 recruiting class.
That won’t be the case this year. Allan Walters, a 6’1”, 200-pound quarterback from The Peddie School in Paramus, NJ, dropped anchor on Friday.

So how good is Walters? The 247 Sports composite ranks him as a four-star recruit and the #11 pro-style quarterback in the Class of 2018. ESPN likewise rates him as a four-star recruit. Rivals “only” considers him a three-star recruit, and the #15 pro-style quarterback in his class. And if you’re a believer in offer lists, Walters claimed scholarship offers from Alabama and Michigan, along with about half the Southeastern Conference.
In other words — this isn’t a guy we were competing with MAC schools for. Here’s a highlight tape for Walters.
Anchor Down, Walters.
