Big Florida receiver/tight end James Bostic commits to Vanderbilt

The Commodores landed recruit No. 11 for 2017.

It’s not often you get a big offensive recruit the week after you score zero touchdowns in an SEC game. Cardinal Gibbons (FL) receiver James Bostic must have seen something he liked out of the Commodores anyway. The three-star wideout/tight end hybrid committed to Vanderbilt on Tuesday.

Bostic is a big target whose star is on the rise as a high school senior. The 6’3, 200 lb tight end/receiver hybrid who could wind up following in Jared Pinkney’s shoes as a big, rumbling Commodores target. With 4.5s 40-yard dash speed, he’s a raw prospect who could develop into a big contributor for an offense in need of all the help it can get.

The Floridian is a dynamic player who can line up in a few different roles on offense. He’ll need to add muscle and become a more polished route runner, but given Derek Mason’s philosophy regarding redshirts it’s entirely possible we see him on the field in 2017. He chose Vanderbilt over scholarship offers from North Carolina State, Middle Tennessee State, and Temple.
