Football Recruiting Update: Several Key Visits, Highlights of Current Commits

This week, we've got an update on how our recruits are doing on the field, and an update on the several visitors who came to NashVegas last weekend for the UGA game.

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Football season is now in full motion, which means one thing around here: time to pack coach Mason's bags and get ready for basketball season right?? WRONG. It is time to take a look forward into the future of this program, most notably this 2016 recruiting class, or as we like to call it on twitter the #Select16. Coach Mason and his staff are hard at work on the recruiting trail, and with such a quality opponent coming up this weekend, the time for visits from the big-time targets is now. After a fun move, a toddler bed, and getting sick in the process, I am finally back in working order just in time for CDA to go to Germany.

2016 Commits: How are they doing on the field?

Deuce Wallace

Wallace is off to an electrifying start to the season, and last week was the best night of his young career - at least statistically. Wallace threw 51 passes, completed 35 of them, and broke the school record for passing yards in a game (518) He has caught the eye of several other schools of late, but is firm in his commitment and isn't looking anywhere but NashVegas. He has been to Vanderbilt several times since committing, and the only change I could see here is his rating going up, because he is lighting up his high school competition on a weekly basis.

Donaven Tennyson

Tennyson is off to a great start with Benedictine. They are currently undefeated and climbing the state of Virginia rankings more and more each week. His explosiveness, sure hands, and playmaking ability is something that is greatly going to help both the growth of this offense and the development of Deuce Wallace.

Austin Quillen

Quillen plays for one of the top HS teams in the country (number one in the state of Oklahoma) and is off to a great start to his senior year. He was at the UGA game last week.

Frank Coppet

Coppet is another future Commodore playing for a top HS team in the US. St. Thomas Aquinas is arguably the best team in the country, and Coppet is making a name for himself every time he steps on the field. The highlight below is from his game two weeks ago against Miramar HS.
