It was a busy weekend for the Vanderbilt Commodores. With football season just over two weeks away, Derek Mason's team rolled through a 96-play scrimmage on Saturday and then spent their Sunday interacting with Nashvillians during the annual Dore Jam. The headliner from the fan fest was the unveiling of the team's "Deep Water" uniforms,
which feature a badass anchor helmet and "anchor down" on places other than the players' nameplates (we're learning!). VandyTigerPhD covered the unveiling in-depth here, so if you have any complaints or compliments about the new kit, be sure to head over to the comments and talk it out.
That wasn't the only Vandy news we got this weekend. Here are some links to catch you up with anything you missed.
Guest columnist Sean Doolittle: Life on the DL is no picnic; plus notes and links - ESPN (blog). Vanderbilt lost to Virginia in the College World Series, so Commodore alum had to let former Cavalier pitcher Sean Doolittle take over.
SEC preseason position rankings: Quarterback. Let's just say that you'll have to scroll for a while before you get to the Commodores.
Oak Ridge cop, former Vandy football star, fired over statutory rape probe - Knoxville News Sentinel. Things have gotten bad - and could get worse very shortly - for Cassen Jackson-Garrison.
Vanderbilt football unveils new alternate uniform. Sports Illustrated takes a look (read: retweets) at Vanderbilt's Deep Water uniforms.
Early Offer: Notre Dame loading up on offensive line will help land QB. It's an Insider article, but ESPN notes that Commodore recruit Deuce Wallace was a big fan of the Commodores' new alternate uniforms.
Reitmaier takes in scrimmage. Local three-star defensive lineman Rutger Reitmeyer was on campus this weekend to watch the Commodores practice (subscription needed).
Football. Mason puts squad through 96-play scrimmage Saturday. The official mothership gives us a report on Vanderbilt's most complex practice yet. They address Johnny McCrary and Wade Freeback battling for the starting QB spot, but not Kyle Shurmur. Hmmm.
Stephen Weatherly, a potential breakout star for 2015, talks about fall practices and Vanderbilt football:
Thanks for stopping by. Did we miss any awesome Commodore links? Be sure to share them in the comments.
