Festus Ezeli Shines With Two Monster Putback Dunks in the NBA Finals

Were you wondering why #FESTUS was trending in the middle of last night's College World Series game? Take a look at these two monster dunks from Vanderbilt alum Festus Ezeli and you'll know why.

While most Vanderbilt fans were watching the baseball team pitch a 1-0 shutout in the College World Series, another Vandy athlete was trending on Twitter - and it's all because of this:

That's former All-SEC center Festus Ezeli with an and-1 putback dunk in the deciding game of the NBA Finals. If you'd like a second angle where you can see Festus's eyes focus on the rim like a lion taking down a wounded antelope, here:

Ezeli finished the game with 10 points in 11 minutes of court time as his Golden State Warriors secured an NBA Championship by beating LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-97. This was his second playoff run with Golden State after missing the entire 2013-14 season due to injury. His big dunks and interior defense helped raise his NBA profile in the brightest possible spotlight.

Ezeli joined the Warriors in 2012 as the 30th pick in the first round of the NBA Draft. When the time comes for Golden State to decide whether or not to pick up the fifth-year option on his contract, Ezeli's agent can point to clips like these in the 13 seconds it takes before the Warriors say yes.
