Gamethread! #6 Vanderbilt Hosts #10 Florida in Game Two

Carson Fulmer threw a complete game shutout to silence #10 Florida in game one. Will the Gators come back and topple Philip Pfeifer to even their series against #6 Vanderbilt in game two?

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Vanderbilt squeezed past Florida on Thursday night thanks to a superlative effort from Carson Fulmer. Can they do it again without their flamethrowing righty on the mound?

Fulmer threw nine shutout innings and struck out 10 batters to silence the Gators in game one of this three game set. Now, Philip Pfeifer will have the chance to lock down a series win when he takes the hill on Friday night. He'll square off against A.J. Puk, a starter whose 5.08 ERA may not tell his whole story. The embattled Gator twirled six two-hit innings and struck out 11 batter last week against Georgia. He's trending upwards at the right time - and Florida needs him to pull out a big win if they want to stay alive in the race for the SEC East title.

First pitch will get underway at 6:30 CST. You can catch the game on SEC Network +. While you're doing that, join us in the comments so we can continue talking about how nasty Carson Fulmer is between worrying about the rest of the Vandy rotation.

Vanderbilt - Phillip Pfeifer (3-3, 3.88 ERA, 71 Ks in 55.2 innings)

Florida - A.J. Puk (6-3, 5.08, 56-44.1)
