Vanderbilt took a hit in the Coaches' Poll after losing to Baylor on the road on Sunday, but it wasn't a brutal one. The Commodores dropped from No. 12 to No. 16 thanks to their second defeat of the season.

Vandy is currently 6-2 in the middle of a challenging non-conference schedule. The 'Dores have lost to No. 7 Kansas and No. 15 Baylor and still have games against No. 11 Purdue and 30th-ranked Dayton before they break into league play.

Michigan State assumed the top spot after last week's No. 1, Kentucky, lost to UCLA. Baylor rose up the poll to No. 15 to land one spot ahead of the Commodores. No. 25 Texas A&M was the only other SEC team to make it to the Coaches' ranks.
