Two straight losses - both coming after Vanderbilt had opened up double-digit leads - have dropped the Commodores out of the AP Top 25. Things are slightly better according to the NCAA's coaches; they've got Vandy clinging to a ranked position at No. 23.
Kevin Stallings's team has lost their last two games after peaking at No. 16 (AP)/No. 12 (Coaches') two weeks ago. They surrendered a 52-39 second half lead in a 69-67 defeat to then-No. 25 Baylor on December 6th. Three days later, they led Dayton 38-22 on their home court but couldn't hold off the Flyers, who rallied to a 72-67 upset victory and gave Vandy their third loss in four games.
The Commodores will have a chance to right the ship when they host 3-5 Wofford on December 19th. After that, they'll face a huge test when they travel to Indiana to take on No. 9 Purdue. They'll do so without Luke Kornet (MCL tear) and Camron Justice (groin injury). Though Vandy has the depth to absorb those absences, they'll need everyone to be on point if they're going to deal the Boilermakers their first loss of the season.
Here's how those polls look in full. First, the AP:
