Vanderbilt Baseball Releases 2016 Schedule

Earlier this week, the #1 Vanderbilt Commodores Baseball Team released their season schedule for the upcoming year. The season included number of key matchups including on familiar West Coast Team. The Vandyboys come off a fantastic season, coming just short of defending their 2014 National Title in a thrilling Game 3 loss to UVA during the CWS Finals.

On Tuesday, Coach Corbin and the baseball team released their 2016 season schedule that included 36 home games and their annual West Coast trip.  This year, the 'Boys will be headed to sunny Palo Alto to take on Stanford in what should be a marquee match-up to start the season.

In addition to Stanford, Vanderbilt starts their out of conference slate and their season with a visit from San Diego on Feb 19th.  Other notable OOC games include a visit from Radford who played at the Hawk in last year's Regionals and inner city rivals, Belmont at First Tennessee Park on March 29th. In addition, Vandy will take on Louisville in the Battle for the Barrel on May 10th at the Hawk.

Vanderbilt kicks off its SEC slate with the Bulldogs of Mississippi State at home the weekend of March 18-20 and then head out for their first SEC road series at Mizzou the following weekend. Vanderbilt will finish the season in the SEC with a number of tough opponents taking on UGA, A&M and Florida on consecutive weekends to start May.  They will finish the regular season at home with Auburn during the weekend of May 19-21.

With what many consider the best pitching staff in all of college baseball and a deep and talented roster, the Dores are not only expected to be at or near the top of the SEC but also find themselves on a return trip to Omaha.  What games are most intriguing?  Is there a stretch of games that would give Vandy the best chance to break its 14 game win streak from 2014?
