Kentucky's freshmen got all the hype heading into the 2014-15 season. Vanderbilt's freshmen might be the ones who come away with the most awards.
Riley LaChance took home his second SEC Freshman of the Week honor on Monday, taking advantage of the Wildcats' week off. The shooting guard averaged 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in Vandy's wins over Saint Louis and Yale. He made nearly 65 percent of his shots from the field in those victories.
LaChance is tops amongst SEC newcomers with 13.1 points per game. His award is Vanderbilt's third of the young season. LaChance also won FotW honors on December 15th after scoring 26 points against Purdue. Wade Baldwin IV was named FotW back on November 25th after showing off his jack-of-all-trades skillset in the season's opening week.
Vanderbilt currently has five true freshmen that play significant roles for their 10-3 team. LaChance, Jeff Roberson, and Shelton Mitchell have emerged as starters as SEC play looms.
