FOOTBAW SEASON IS HERE!!

I'm literally crying. (For best effect, play video while reading)

It's here.  We've waited for what feels like enough time to observe proton decay.

Soon, the warriors of Vanderbilt will do battle with the barbarian hordes of the SEC East, and worst yet, the far reaches of the OOC provinces.  Soon, our proud warriors will show what countless hours of tape and practices have wrought.  Will they be victorious despite the nay-saying of so-called learned analysts, or will they once again show what determination and focus can bring to anyone who puts their heart to it?

Led by her new captain, Coach Derek Mason, the HMS Commodore sails into uncertain waters.  There are those who doubt us.  There are those who say, the Ol' Bald Poach was our only reason for success.  There are those who say we will at best get six wins, and slowly return to "same old Vandy".  Worse yet, there are those who say that we will struggle to win any conference game outside Kentucky.

Times have changed.  We have now been shown what is possible, and given us a thirst for greater achievements.  This year, we have a leader who better understands us and the Vanderbilt culture.  A man who "gets" what it is to have a competent football team, while still adhering to the finest academic standards.  A man who understands that smarts and integrity does not strip oneself of a football team capable of great things.

We have a team that is dedicated to showing what Vanderbilt is all about.  This has been evident through all we've heard in camp and through the summer thus far.  A lot of players on the team have felt betrayed.  They are using this as an even greater incentive to push the boundaries of what they are capable of.  While the leadership has changed, the goals remain the same.  These are men who are dedicated to performing at the highest level athletically, while simultaneously challenging themselves at the highest academic level.  This is a team that exemplifies the Vanderbilt spirit.  That is, success in the classroom; but also success in life.

As of 20:15 (central) tonight, a new season dawns.

IT'S GOOD TO BE GOLD, ANCHOR DOWN, AND WHO YA' WIT' ?

CAN I GET AN AMEN FROM THE CONGREGATION?
