Vanderbilt overcame a slow start to record their ninth win of 2014-15 by toppling Saint Louis 70-55 on Wednesday. Riley LaChance had 19 points and seven rebounds to lead the 'Dores to their first true road win of 2014.
The Commodores trailed early before utilizing a 17-2 run to take a lead that they would not relinquish early in the first half. The Billikens were able to coax an inefficient game out of center Damian Jones, but Vandy got scoring all over the court to take down an undersized and outplayed home team. LaChance, who made seven of his nine shots from the floor, led the charge.
Saint Louis cut Vandy's second half lead to six points early in the second frame, but couldn't get any closer than that. Ten different Commodores scored en route to a 15-point non-conference win. Damian Jones had 15 points and two blocks, while his frontcourt mate James Siakam added seven points, nine boards, and four assists. The victory improved the 'Dores to 9-3 on the season with a game against Yale remaining on their non-conference schedule
Vandy returns to action against the Bulldogs on Saturday, January 3rd.
