Vanderbilt Week Seven Depth Chart: No Patton Robinette, Wade Freebeck to Start

Patton Robinette will spend the next two weeks recuperating from a concussion, leaving true freshman Wade Freebeck and, sigh, Stephen Rivers to contend for snaps at quarterback for the Commodores.

Patton Robinette will miss his third straight game after suffering a concussion against South Carolina. Wade Freebeck, who started games against UMass, Kentucky, and Georgia this season, will get the call at quarterback for Vanderbilt when they face Charleston Southern this Saturday.

Robinette's removal from the depth chart - he'd be listed as the starter, though with an "-or-" designation for the past two weeks - means that he'll have a full four weeks to recover from his head injury. The Commodores have a bye next week before facing Missouri on the road.

Stephen Rivers will back up Freebeck against the Buccaneers. Redshirt freshman Johnny McCrary, who hasn't thrown an in-game pass since week one against Temple, is not listed on the team's official depth chart.

The shakeup at quarterback is the only major change on the 'Dores roster for the coming week. Caleb Azubike will remain at outside linebacker, but it's clear that he'll also play a share of his snaps with his hand on the ground with the defensive linemen. Strong safety Oren Burks has still not been cleared to return to the team. Right tackle Will Holden has officially beaten out senior Andrew Bridges for the starting spot, but that designation can change if Charleston Southern treats Freebeck like Kentucky did two weeks ago.

We'll have more updates if anything changes in the days leading up to Saturday's homecoming game against CSU.
