Sagarin Ratings: Vanderbilt Rises to 118th by Virtue of Only Losing by 10.

Vanderbilt's 24-14 loss to Missouri actually helped the Commodores rise one spot in Jeff Sagarin's computer rankings. I guess Derek Mason knew what he was doing when he punted with 1:09 left against Missouri.

Take that, Hawai'i!
Take that, Hawai'i!

Vanderbilt covered the spread on Saturday when they lost by only 10 points to 6-2 Missouri. That relatively close loss helped bump the Commodores up to #118 in Jeff Sagarin's computer ratings. The 2-6 'Dores had been ranked 119th after last week's bye.

Vandy is the only SEC team to fall outside of Sagarin's top 45.

As usual, here is your weekly breakdown of the FCS teams that are currently rated ahead of the Commodores.

#34 North Dakota State
#53 Illinois State
#75 Jacksonville State
#76 New Hampshire
#79 Villanova
#82 Northern Iowa
#83 South Dakota State
#90 Coastal Carolina
#93 Harvard
#96 Indiana State
#98 Youngstown State
#100 Eastern Washington
#101 Richmond
#102 SE Louisiana
#103 Missouri State
#105 Chattanooga
#108 Sam Houston State
#110 McNeese State

And here's how the rest of the Vandy schedule looks, according to Sagarin

vs. #134 Old Dominion
vs. #26 (...what?) Florida
at #4 Mississippi State
vs. #36 Tennessee

On the bright side, Vandy is still better than Kansas (#122) and Wake Forest (#146)!
