Casey Hayward, Sean Richardson Invited to NFL Scouting Combine - Chris Marve, Tim Fugger Snubbed

A pair of Commodores will get the chance to improve their NFL Draft stock at the Scouting Combine this February. Defensive backs Casey Hayward and Sean Richardson will represent Vanderbilt in Indianapolis. Notable seniors who weren't selected to show off their skills include Chris Marve, Tim Fugger, and Brandon Barden. Marve and Fugger may have missed the cut due to their relative lack of size, while Barden's slow season - partially due to QB concerns - likely cost him a trip to beautiful Indianapolis.

You'll notice three teams in bold above. Indiana, Ohio State (to the delight of Bret Bielema) and Vanderbilt all find themselves on the "Recruiting Stock Improving" list and return a ton of starters in 2012. One can rather justifiably expect solid improvement from all three of them

Check out Charles Sollars's awesome helmet design concepts. The Vandy ones can be found here. There are three other Commodore designs on the page, as well as hundreds of other prototypes.

What do you think of the Vandy helmets? The one above is probably my favorite, but they're all solid. However, whether or not they're better than the classic, smooth V-Star is up for debate.

H/T to Charles Sollars for the bad-ass designs. Check out his entire photobucket portfolio here.

What's good, coaches? I know you all won't be able to respond, but I'd like to say thanks for the opportunity and believing in me. There's no other coaching staff that I could say I'd rather send my talents to than you. I know you will bring the best out of me not only as a football player but as a student and a person. I just want to say thanks, and I can't wait to score a lot of touchdowns for you guys. I love you guys. You are all great. By the way, if you don't get anyone else's signature, you'll have mine.
