Most interesting points - Stallings is likely to stick around another 6 years, it looks like KJ's going to have surgery to fix the shoulder, and Stallings thinks McClellan could have a huge impact next season ("there were many days this season where he was the best player on our team").
For the second consecutive year, Vanderbilt will be in the national spotlight on the opening day of college football when the Commodores host Southeastern Conference rival Ole Miss on Thursday, August 29. The Commodores and Rebels, two teams on the rise in the SEC, will kickoff at 8:15 p.m. CT, in Vanderbilt Stadium, according to a statement released today jointly by ESPN and the SEC.
Freshman guard Kevin Bright was named the SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday by the league office in Birmingham after averaging 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in two Vanderbilt victories last week. It is Bright's second SEC weekly honor of the season.
Sheldon Jeter has turned heads with his efficient and energetic play for the Commodores in 2013. How much better is Vanderbilt when he's on the court? Can he spark the 'Dores to a strong finish in their rebuilding season?
Vanderbilt and Arkansas both received 12 first place votes, with Kentucky and South Carolina each receiving one of the SEC East votes, and LSU and Mississippi State each receiving one of the SEC West votes.
"That was the tail end of a game in which Vanderbilt hit a blistering 12 three-pointers in the first half, but they became over-reliant on the shot as the game wore on. The long ball became a crutch that failed to extend the Commodore lead as time wore down, and then kept them from coming back when overtime started. In 13:30 of crunch time in these two near-misses, Vandy put up 20 shots. They got 10 points over that span." Yep, I just quoted myself. Yes, I hate myself for it too. But, I think it's a good place to start talking about where this season is headed. Let me know what you think over in the comments over at NSH.
Coach is looking pretty dead on...other than the fact that he probably was to generous in his ranking of the Irish.
Just wanted to get the word out that there are about 1500 MCB tickets available for active duty military, veterans and their families through Vettix.org. If you know someone who is an active duty service member or veteran that meets the vettix criteria, invite them to come be part of the 60,000 wearing black and gold! Semper Fi and Anchordown!
Two of my greatest interests have converged. That's right, Vanderbilt Football is now NPR hot.
When it comes to the last few bowls, Vanderbilt becomes an interesting team. The Commodores are one of the hottest teams in the SEC and they could be up for the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Why? Well, the Chick-fil-A Bowl might not want another South Carolina-Clemson matchup. That means the Gamecocks could slip to the Gator Bowl. Also, could the Music City Bowl find itself in a position to take a 6-6 Ole Miss team over an 8-4 Mississippi State team after the Rebels blew the Bulldogs out? It's possible. …
