On Thursday, the Vanderbilt Commodores announced that the football team will host Nevada on September 8, 2018, completing the Commodores’ nonconference schedule for that season.
In 2018, Vanderbilt will open the season at home against Middle Tennessee on September 1. Nevada will be the second game of the season, followed by a road trip to Notre Dame on September 15 and a home game against Tennessee State on September 29.
No return game was announced, though the Commodores do have spots available on the 2019 and 2020 nonconference schedules -- and presumably two in 2022, when the Commodores travel to Hawaii (which under NCAA rules would allow Vanderbilt to play a 13th game.) Nevada is coming off a 5-7 season in 2016 and just made a coaching change, hiring Jay Norvell after considering Vanderbilt offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig.
In the same article, Vanderbilt announced the kickoff time for the 2017 season opener against MTSU. The game will kick off at 7 PM CT on September 2, and it will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.
