Cody Reed Signs With the D'Backs for One Million Dollars

You can't tell me you weren't thinking it when you saw how much he signed for.

The 54th overall pick in the 2014 MLB draft, Cody Reed wasted little time signing a pro contract with the team who drafted him. I am already forgetting he exists.

I am conflicted.  On one hand, I don't want to bring anyone down from their Oma-high, but on the other hand, people do want to know things...

Meh, I'll tell you.  Cody Reed has reportedly signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks last night.  The deal hasn't been officially announced yet, but according to AL.com (which I know now is not the leading news outlet for coverage of all things Weird Al), Reed has signed for around $1 million.

Reed joins Justus Sheffield as Vandy commits to have already signed contracts with the teams that drafted them (though the ink has yet to dry, and Sheffield's dad is adamant his son hasn't signed yet, so who knows what's going on there), and it's the consensus expectation that Isan Diaz will soon follow (and Touki Toussaint may take some time to sign, but will sign eventually).  I'm still holding out hope that Dylan Cease will be pitching for us next year, though the Cubs, who strategically picked under-slot guys with their first two picks, will certainly have enough burlap sacks with dollar signs on them, briefcases full of unmarked bills, and over-sized novelty checks to sway him from his commitment.

Seeing as he's now dead to us, let's stop talking about him, and instead listen to the dulcet tones of Mr. Colin Hay.
