If I can indulge myself here...the wife and I are looking to discharge our familial duties by knocking out the obligatory trip to the old country in October, thus sparing ourselves the ignomy of flying from California to Birmingham and back during the holidays. It occurred to me that with three home games in October, the odds were good for picking up my first live Commodore football game since losing 13-14 to Notre Dame in 1996. (Old VandyImport is OLD.)
Then the damn Pac-12 moved Cal-Stanford to October 20. I know, right? So basically our choice is between Florida on October 13 and Homecoming against UMass on October 27.
So my question is...is there any interest in a very poorly organized Anchor of Gold meetup for one of those games? We're still looking at flights and hotels and whatnot (going between BHM, Atlanta and Nashville) but would probably only be in town for gameday itself, so it might make sense to sponge off the homecoming festivities to save effort...
So I guess what I'm asking is - who's going to Florida, who's going to Homecoming, and does anybody want to get together and tap a few flasks?
EDITED TO ADD: I may be making this run without benefit of wife, and sooner than expected - which opens up Presbyterian as an option. And I have no objection to seeing the Blue Hose get pummeled two years running, because we don't love them Hose. (Expect me to beat this joke to death until September 17.) So is anyone going to THAT game?
