Basketball: Vanderbilt 77, Mississippi State 78 in OT -- Postgame Report
Vanderbilt's fifth loss was also its third loss in overtime this season. I think it's fair to say this was truly the first "full strength" loss Vandy has suffered this season, though Festus Ezeli continues to play at less than 100%. Give Mississippi State credit, they controlled the glass, leading to second chance opportunities and making Vanderbilt pay for any bad shots, and were aggressive on offense, leading to free throws.
In all honesty, Vanderbilt's defense was probably due for a letdown at the way they played against Alabama last Thursday. Mississippi State is a very efficient offensive team, and when the Commodores did let up at the start of the second half, they came alive.

I don't know why I hadn't thought about it before
Obviously this cuts both ways…but this team is 3 points away from being 17-2. I think we’d be getting plenty of love at 17-2 even with losses to the states of Cleveland and Indiana.
I like Tennessee and Vanderbilt. There aren't many like me, and they're probably better off for it.

If this were our bracket, I would stop the season today if I could. Opening round in Nashville, Southern Miss then Creighton, then Kansas and Duke / West Virginia in St. Louis. All in driving distance of Nashville, and a relatively weak bracket.
Obviously this won’t be our bracket, but pretty cool if it were.
To me, as long as we're in the tournament, thats all that matters
I mean really, is there a team that we could not beat if we play well? KY is #1. And while they would clearly be favored over us, we could beat them. Missouri is #2. The same basic team we went into OT last year on their court.
That we’re not ranked in the top 25 is silly. But it may work to our advantage. We seem to play better when less is expected of us. When people doubt us.
Lets just get to the Dance. Then lets see what happens.
DJP's +/- numbers
Remember when he was more of a liability? He’s really improved a lot over the season. Makes me feel a little better about next year.
