Thank you government

for blocking espn3 at my desktop :(

by MrManager on Jun 24, 2011 1:07 PM EDT up reply actions

I wish I could tune in ESPN3.com

But at least I get to listen to Joe Fisher. He’s currently blaring in my office.

by Diezba on Jun 24, 2011 1:54 PM EDT reply actions

Let's go!!!!!!!

I was randomly blessed with a day off, and I’m enjoying it to its fullest with the ’Dores on ESPN.

If you could relay the message to Westlake that that will be all, thank you. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Man I love

being able to hear the WHO YA WIT chant on live national television.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 2:24 PM EDT reply actions

Sonny to Espo.

Westy to Sonny.

2 outs. Let’s get the 3rd without any damage.

by doredarling on Jun 24, 2011 2:39 PM EDT reply actions

I think the goal

was to have the guy chasing Tony towards second so the 3B runner could run home. But then TK tripped.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 2:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah...

The problem is that you kill your run expectancy overmanaging like that. Not to mention what happens when you screw it up.

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 3:00 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree

and wish they just let the guys try to hit the ball with runners on the corners.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 3:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Additionally

Why have Riley bunt if you’re not going to send Connor on the single?

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 3:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Wasted opportunity

Kemp looks like a freshman for the first time in Omaha.

by doredarling on Jun 24, 2011 2:51 PM EDT reply actions

Westy

Not the best play there. Plus, when you tag, you need to have the ball in your tagging hand.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 3:01 PM EDT reply actions

Details

He had a great shot to get the runner at home though. Especially with Casali behind the plate.

by Christian D'Andrea on Jun 24, 2011 3:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Apparently

CC shouted “FOUR.”

You can see Westy looking heartbroken when he realized he had been too locked in on the runner to first.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 3:04 PM EDT up reply actions

Westy involved in both runs of the game so far.

Perhaps he can make up for the second one with another long ball…?

by doredarling on Jun 24, 2011 3:05 PM EDT reply actions

Backwards Ks galore

We’re really pushing the outer limits of the zone today

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 3:08 PM EDT reply actions

Is it just me

Or was that first ball to Casali and that called third strike in the EXACT same spot?

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 3:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Lasers, please

The umpires are doing this the exact same way I am. That saddens me.

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 3:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Espo STILL has 0 hits in the CWS

Good thing he’s not batting cleanup anymore.

by KC Commodore on Jun 24, 2011 3:14 PM EDT reply actions

Is this more than a slump?

He’s slicing 90 mph, right-down-the-middle-of-the-plate fastballs directly to the right.

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 3:17 PM EDT up reply actions

May be nerves

If he’s hitting it to the right, it sounds like he’s not getting around on the ball.

I’m sure he’s aware that he hasn’t been getting on. He may be thinking a little too much when it’s time to pull the trigger.

by parlagi on Jun 24, 2011 3:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Gray is pitching well.

Gotta get out of these pinches with no runs though.

by MrManager on Jun 24, 2011 3:18 PM EDT reply actions

Eff

Eff Eff Eff Eff Eff

(nervousness)

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 3:23 PM EDT reply actions

Son of a bitch

You just can’t walk .200 hitters.

by KC Commodore on Jun 24, 2011 3:25 PM EDT reply actions

The Luck Dragon will bite you

in the form of a seeing-eye single that bounced 2 feet in front of the plate

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 3:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Did anyone

See the Gators Portal sign on ESPN just now? That was hilarious.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 3:29 PM EDT reply actions

Aha

Was trying to figure out what the hell the rings were. Makes sense. Nice catch.

Alright, 4 innings down

Vandy 1
Florida 3

Dent’s work at the plate played a big role in all 3 runs for UF so far.

by Christian D'Andrea on Jun 24, 2011 3:30 PM EDT reply actions

Oh what the hell, Vanderbilt

These are the same bewildered sputtering noises I made when I read about the football recruiting class this morning.

How can such a highly-rated academic school make people too stupid to speak English?

“They tried to get the wave started here a moment ago, and the crowd did not respond.”

Fucking go to the bullpen

He’s having a bad game. Just take him out.

by MrManager on Jun 24, 2011 3:57 PM EDT reply actions

Inning over.

1 run scored.

4-1 top of the 7th.

UGHHH

by MrManager on Jun 24, 2011 4:05 PM EDT reply actions

Okay Espo

NOW is the time to do something.

by KC Commodore on Jun 24, 2011 4:08 PM EDT reply actions

Hershiser's right about that

There aren’t that many chances to score in these games. Can’t afford to squander chances like we did in the 3rd.

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 4:10 PM EDT reply actions

Pitching change

Please let it not be Rodriguez.

by KC Commodore on Jun 24, 2011 4:14 PM EDT reply actions

Nice

Going for the change here boys!

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 4:20 PM EDT reply actions

They have a ROOGY?

This is why it’s important to break up lefties in the lineup

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 4:23 PM EDT reply actions

SC using Roth? Interesting.

That could really come back to hurt them if they lose tonight.

by KC Commodore on Jun 24, 2011 4:26 PM EDT reply actions

Yup.

Rodriguez’s slider must be nastier than any of us can imagine, because he was rarely in the strike zone that at-bat.

by Christian D'Andrea on Jun 24, 2011 4:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Pitching change.

Austin Maddux (Maddox?) is coming in.

by MrManager on Jun 24, 2011 4:38 PM EDT reply actions

Yeesh he's got a quick hook

He’s ripping through his best relievers, yes?

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 4:38 PM EDT reply actions

Jesus.

I haven’t felt like this since March.

DAMN YOU VANDY SPORTS.

by MrManager on Jun 24, 2011 4:42 PM EDT reply actions

Wow...

I guess that makes us even for the blooper that got by him earlier…

by Vandy Dan on Jun 24, 2011 4:45 PM EDT reply actions

Dang it.

Those were some superhero abilities to get that ball.

by doredarling on Jun 24, 2011 4:46 PM EDT reply actions

"strikes"

has been a relative term this game.

by doredarling on Jun 24, 2011 4:49 PM EDT up reply actions

True...

But he was missing everything. Hard to quibble with the line drive that got snagged, but Maddox was nowhere close – not even on the one strike that got called. Golden opportunity to take the lead. Oh well.

by Vandy Dan on Jun 24, 2011 4:50 PM EDT up reply actions

Just take it.

Maddox is struggling horribly with his command.

by KC Commodore on Jun 24, 2011 4:47 PM EDT reply actions

So uhh...

That first ball to Johns was the 3rd pitch to Harrell

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 4:47 PM EDT reply actions

Force to third

So, SO close.

That called strike would have been a walk and a run for the lead. Sigh.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 4:48 PM EDT reply actions

Throws strikes

Seriously. He’s trying to give away an out.

by KC Commodore on Jun 24, 2011 4:51 PM EDT reply actions

This

can’t be happening.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 4:54 PM EDT reply actions

Unbelievable.

UF should just bunt every at-bat.

by KC Commodore on Jun 24, 2011 4:55 PM EDT reply actions

Both on Espo...

You can’t leave that for your pitcher after 131 pitches.

by Vandy Dan on Jun 24, 2011 4:56 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm confused

Why does it take a fielding error to get him out of the game?

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 4:55 PM EDT reply actions

I'd rather Clinard stay in.

He’s been money for the entire postseason.

by KC Commodore on Jun 24, 2011 5:00 PM EDT reply actions

Corbin can't let himself get out-overmanaged

We’ve gotta torch our pen just like Captain Quick Hook on the other side

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 5:01 PM EDT reply actions

That

really, really sucks.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 5:08 PM EDT reply actions

mistakes

sooooo many mistakes in this game that have killed us.

by weirdowl on Jun 24, 2011 5:09 PM EDT reply actions

What is happening?

Did a little league team take the field in VU’s place?

by VandyEdge on Jun 24, 2011 5:11 PM EDT reply actions

Who knew something as simple as splitting lefties

would turn big-time college managers into platoon advantage seeking nutcases?

by notoutofthe on Jun 24, 2011 5:15 PM EDT reply actions

Game over.

Nice season everyone.

I’m now officially a baseball fan.

by MrManager on Jun 24, 2011 5:23 PM EDT reply actions

Proud of our 'Dores!

Omaha was fun! 2-2 on the week isn’t shabby for a first trip. Thanks to all the players and coaches for a great season!

by doredarling on Jun 24, 2011 5:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Hate to See It End

Good run by the boys. This program is solid and will stay in the upper echelons of the college game. Now on to football.

by Smoke n Mirrors on Jun 24, 2011 5:24 PM EDT reply actions

I'm from Columbia

So I guess it’s not a hard jump to get there for the week.

by ojwolfe on Jun 24, 2011 5:28 PM EDT up reply actions

What a gut twister of a game

Time to leave work and start drinking, I guess…

by VandyEdge on Jun 24, 2011 5:26 PM EDT reply actions

Agreed

Even better: drinking at work…

by Sdubya on Jun 24, 2011 5:37 PM EDT up reply actions

GREAT FUCKING SEASON, BOYS

Tough way to lose, but it wouldn’t be a Vandy season if there wasn’t ulcer-inducing heartache. Happy with these guys. Best Vandy men’s athletics showing ever.

by Christian D'Andrea on Jun 24, 2011 5:31 PM EDT reply actions

And now to the drinking...

I’ll be drowning my sorrows in bourbon until the first football win. Planning to sober up in October….

by Sdubya on Jun 24, 2011 5:36 PM EDT reply actions

which will be soon I think

CJF seems to be following CTC’s example and becoming a boss.

I live in the OC.
