Texas Tech Accused of Recruiting Violations Under Leach's Watch
The Red Raiders could be in trouble after the NCAA alleged that 234 text messages were sent to recruits between 2007 and 2009 - a violation. It's not a huge misstep, but it is an instance of former Head Coach Mike Leach breaking a pretty cut and dry (albeit recent) rule about communicating with recruits. If this information was known by insiders in the past month or earlier, it may have had some effect on Leach's coaching prospects - including his lack of inclusion in Vandy's HC search.
Knowing this, would you still want Leach over Franklin? It's a(nother) black eye for his reputation, but his resume and success are still pretty impressive. I'd still (hypothetically) welcome him to Nashville - but he's burning through a lot of the goodwill that the Michael Crabtree era brought him.

Your opinion doesn’t count, you’ve been dead since 1877 and have no idea what texting even is.

No
I never wanted Leach. I’ve also seen no sign that he had any interest in Vanderbilt – he certainly didn’t seem interested when Vandy fans called into his crappy radio show. The fact that Maryland didn’t hire Leach, despite the fact that its biggest booster pretty much forced out the alumnus ACC Coach of the Year specifically to hire him, says a lot more than some minor NCAA violation. Does anyone really think that Maryland wanted to force out Fridge for Randy Edsall? No, the Leach interview/background check had to have been epically bad for Maryland to hire Edsall over Leach.

I'm not sold on Leach
He ran up crazy numbers in a conference that doesn’t know the meaning of defense, and got routinely curb-stomped by SEC teams in the Cotton Bowl…yes, I’m a football Neanderthal, but I’m less interested in the spread-no-huddle-run-shoot-WAC-style offense than in a good hardnosed team with solid fundamentals on both sides of the ball, and Leach never persuaded me he could produce that.
