My heart goes out to the kid – losing a parent is always rough, but losing one before their time and while you’re young yourself…you wind up plunging into a pretty dark place, and the person who comes up isn’t the person who went down to start with. As badly as we need him – and it’s obvious more than ever – I wouldn’t blame him one bit for hanging it up and moving on.
