Former Vanderbilt star Hunter Hillenmeyer is out for the season | tennessean.com | The Tennessean

The team placed the veteran linebacker on injured reserve after he fell ill in Sunday's game, feeling the aftereffects of a concussion suffered 15 days earlier in the Aug. 28 exhibition game. Hillenmeyer didn't travel to Cleveland for the final exhibition and the team issued a press release saying he had passed all medical tests before returning to practice last week.

Darkwa has rushed for 128 yards and scored four touchdowns in the first two games for the Green Wave (1-1). Payten Jason and Darkwa and are backups to junior tailback Albert Williams, but Darkwa leads the team in carries with 25. Darkwa scored three TDs in the opener, marking the first time a Tulane true freshman rushed for three TDs in one game since Matt Forte, now with the Chicago Bears, did it in 2004 against Army.

Former local prospect Orleans Darkwa is having some real success at Tulane. I wish we had him here, but am glad to see that he appears to be thriving as a true freshman.

The question, of course, is: If Bryant or any other player can lose his or her eligibility, why can't a coach lose his chance to coach in games or competition? Well, he can. The Committee on Infractions has the ability to use that as a penalty when it hears a case. In the past, when it has prevented coaches from competition, the coaches already had been terminated or left voluntarily.
