Where I Come From: Our All-Time Favorite (Football) Players

This post is sponsored by EA Sports NCAA Football 2011.

Drumming up a small list of your all-time favorite players is a lot harder than you'd think it to be, particularly in football. How do you compare someone like D.J. Moore with someone like Brett Upson? You don't. You love them all and throw them into a huge list.

I think I'm going to make this one a little different. I'm going to add some names with one to two sentence explanations. My hope is that additional submissions will be made in the comments. I'll add those to the post periodically, along with the username of the nominator. Youtube examples are encouraged. (NOTE: This would be an excellent time to throw out nicknames for the proposals)

Here goes:

Star-divide

The Obvious

Jumpin' Jay Cutler - Quoth Joe Fisher, "It is intercepted. IT IS INTERCEPTED! THE STREAK IS OVER! THE STREAK IS OVER! VANDERBILT WINS IN KNOXVILLE!"

Earl Bennett - The SEC's Career leader in receptions.

Corey ChavousA great ambassador for Vanderbilt Football

John Markham & Bryant Hahnfeldt - Each became Vanderbilt's all-time leading scorers

Warren Norman - Broke Herschel Walker's SEC Freshman all purpose yards record

D.J. Moore - Single-handedly willing Vanderbilt into bowl eligibility versus Kentucky (2 REC TDs, 2 INTs)

Run with it in the comments...

I'll go with Corey for 3 reasons...

1) He was closer to my era.

2) He is now a fine draft guru at draftnasty.com.

3) At one time, he owned every episode of Sanford and Son on VHS. That’s a man of taste, right there.

"Well, if that ain't a show, I'll kiss your ass." - Gov. Jim Folsom Sr. (D-AL), 1948-52
