Cracks in the [under] armor? I certainly didn't expect to hear these "short turnaround" excuses from Cats fans...
2 Vanderbilt Commodores
22-6 (11-3) 13 19 25 19 Survived UGA while still hungover from loss to UK. Short turnaround not a problem for Dores vs. Razorbacks.
3 Tennessee Volunteers
21-7 (9-5) 16 13 30 21 Great win over Kentucky. Unfortunately, losing to Florida didn't exactly improve their SEC Tourney seeding.
4 Florida Gators
20-9 (9-5) X X 47 40 Tough closing stretch: vs. Vandy and at Kentucky. Does being back on the bubble make them more dangerous?
5 Mississippi St. Bulldogs
21-8 (9-5) 35 X 41 47 Swat King coronation celebration: Jarvis Varnado is your new NCAA career blocks leader.
6 Mississippi Rebels
19-9 (7-7) X X 51 46 Hey, wha' happen?
7 Arkansas Razorbacks
14-15 (7-7) X X 101 117 Not a great week for the Razorbacks.
8 South Carolina Gamecocks
14-14 (5-9) X X 87 76 Devan Downey probably still has a few tricks left up his sleeve...but does he have the energy left to use them?
9 Georgia Bulldogs
13-14 (5-9) X X 79 82 I guarantee you Kentucky is not looking forward to playing at Georgia. Stegeman is turning into the SEC East house of horrors.
10 Auburn Tigers
14-15 (5-9) X X 98 118 The question with no answer: Has Lebo justified being fired or being retained? Does sweeping Bama lock in another season?
11 Alabama Crimson Tide
14-14 (4-10) X X 68 85 Two winnable games this week.
12 LSU Tigers
10-18 (1-13) X X 187 190 You knew they'd get one. Arkansas drew the short straw.

I haven't paid much attention in recent years...

…I’ve been paying attention to Vandy but not much to the rest of the league. But when was the last time the East vs West was this lopsided? Is this normal?

LSU's downfall really showcased the weakness over there...

In the past few years the East has been stronger, but there had still been some good teams over there – just no real Final Four contenders. This year they’ve fallen off the map entirely.

"SEC East House of Horrors"

I like it. Thanks for the kind words. We welcome any and all signs of hope and bases for optimism.

Mark Fox

I have a feeling he is going to make Georgia forget about that whole Jim Harrick episode. The SEC East is turning into an evil bitch.

He can coach, Yet Another Basketball Blog did a post on biggest improvements in offensive and defensive efficiency

for a first year coach and Mark Fox’s team has the eleventh largest improvement over the last six years (this year’s Kentucky isn’t even in the top twenty). The main question is can he recruit at a higher level than Felton.

If you build it, they will come.

We are hopeful that there’s a tipping point with success. We expect Leslie and Thompkins back next year plus a few others who can get the team more wins. At some point, we hope the program’s being taken seriously will channel some of the ample local talent our way. Geography alone works reasonably well in football and baseball. And if it works in basketball, I hope we can hang onto Fox.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
