Looking past tomorrow...

Star-divide

While a win tomorrow certainly would vault this year's Vanderbilt squad to a higher ranking and better seed in the NCAA Tournament, how will history view such a win?

Everyone - even Kentucky fans who believe that their Winstons don't cause cancer - knows that Kentucky eventually will have to vacate all of its wins this season.  Sure, we don't yet know whether Cal's buddy Wes bought a house for John Wall's family or hired an honor student to take the SAT for DeMarcus Cousins; but it is only a matter of time until Kentucky joins UMass and Memphis in the Hall of Shame.

So, does that take some of the importance away from tomorrow's game?  Personally, I just remind myself that we are playing for an SEC Championship and SEC Tournament seeding.  What do you think?

Will tomorrow's game matter after Kentucky forfeits its wins for the season?
Yes, it is important for a classy coach like Coach Stallings to set an example by beating a scumbag like Calipari

Yes, because it is the only way for Vandy to win the SEC Championship

No, it will not matter after Kentucky fans return to loving only cousins with a lower case "c"

I just wish I could be there tomorrow. Instead, I will be in the next best place: the Mandalay Bay Race & Sports Book. Accordingly, I’ll be looking to tomorrow’s non-gambling related post for two important pieces of advice:

1. What happens to all bets on this game when Kentucky forfeits its wins for the season? Do I have to return winnings to Mandalay Bay? Will they have to refund my original bet?

2. Are their any prop bets based around future NCAA penalties against coaches? I worry the odds on a Cal penalty will be too low for my liking, so I might put some money down on Rick Stansbury. Regardless, I love the SEC’s chances.

Whereas a Kentucky education (a.k.a. “pretension”) does not allow for many options outside of Kentucky, many Vanderbilt alumni live outside of the Nashville area.

I’ll be putting my money behind my team. In case you did not know, Las Vegas is like Tunica, but people can bet on sporting events using money instead of their social security check.
