Our fight mechanism was real high. We fought hard. Even during stretches of the game where we didn’t play well, we were still fighting hard.
That carried us through.
You have to have someone step up and be special. Jermaine did that. Played 38 minutes. 0 turnovers. 25 points.
Lexington
They were very good.
To beat them in Lexington, you have to jump out on them early and make the crowd get restless. Often the crowd will turn on them.
There’s a reason why they were ranked #1 in the country. Never in a position to take control of that game.
Officiating
“If you play well, you don’t notice the officiating.” – Gene Keady
“If you play well, you take the officials out of the game.” – Gene Keady
On the 58 Fouls Called
“Too many were committed by the players”
If there’s no flow to the game, it means there’s too much football being played
On AJ
Much maligned and much revered.
In his position of being noticed and talented, “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
AJ’s worked hard. He’s done well for us. He didn’t have a great game on Saturday, but he helped us win the first 5 SEC games, and he’ll absolutely be helping us win some that are upcoming.
Jeff's Dunk
It was where he was after the cut. He was directly beneath the rim. He wasn’t trying to get spectacular or anything. He wasn’t trying to showboat. He just missed the dunk.
On Cousins and Cal talking about Stallings calling a "hitjob"
“I’ll make sure to make that statement true nextime.”
ABSOLUTELY FALSE CLAIM. Calipari loves to work the media. Classic misdirection. Take the bad pub off Cousins and put it elsewhere.
“We got out of Cousins way the best we could all night” – Classic Stallings.
On JP Prince's Tech (bitchslapping Andre Walker)
Officials went and reviewed both plays (Prince-Walker and Cousins-Ezeli). Determined that not enough had happened for a player to be ejected.
Officials were scared to throw a guy out of a game in hostile environments.
