Dear Anchor of Gold,
Your blog makes me happy.
I'm rather new to the Commodore family (if four years of experience counts as new). I'm a soon-to-be Vandy graduate, a four-year member of the Spirit of Gold marching band, and a passionate fan.
I probably have nothing that enlightening to add to the conversation sports-wise--my understanding of statistics and strategies and such have their shortcomings--but as a student and as a band member, I do have a little perspective from the inside of school-spirit-y things (One of Vandy's largest weaknesses, I'm afraid). It's a shame I didn't start this a few years back or even at the beginning of the season--I have all sorts of great stories to tell from the band side of the game and have had plenty of emotions to share over the football side of things.
I have participated in the basketball band off and on (I even went to that heart-breaking, hope-shattering NCAA first round in San Jose last year), but I may not be as active this year due to the fun new responsibilities I'll enjoy as a senior working through student teaching and applying to graduate schools.
Nevertheless, I'll be happy to chime in and comment and share some SoG stories and observations as time goes on. I love the all of posts and fanposts on here, so I'll be lurking.
PS: You can probably tell from the name that I'm also an Arkansas fan, but don't worry, I love both teams very very much and will not abandon you, Vanderbilt. Trust me, if I can get through this last season as a Dore fan, I'll always be a Vandy girl.
