| TO% | 10.3% | 20.7% |
| FTRate | 55.9% | 37.5% |
There were two stats that really jumped off the page:
Obviously, Florida was extremely effective from outside today. Florida had been shooting 29.3% from 3 on the season. For the game, they shot 48.1% from 3. This is probably a silver-lining for Gator fans, but it could be a sign that whatever slump Florida has been in might be over.
Vandy's turnover percentage for the season had been close to 20%. Against Florida, Vandy's turnover rate was 10.3%. The team had only 7 turnovers, which is a huge departure from their performances to date. If you're going to survive a three point barrage, you had better take care of the ball. Fortunately, Vandy did today.
Of the four factors, Florida only led effective FG rate (though Vandy's number in this category was quite strong). Vandy handily won the other three (OReb, TO, FTR).

Plus/Minus

Plus/Minus Adjusted Per 40 Minutes

Andre Walker (8pts, 10rebs, 7asts, 3stls) had an incredible game for Vandy, and it shows in the unadjusted plus/minus. A.J. Ogilvy ended up being the more effective player when you adjust for the amount of minutes everyone played. Another glue award for Andre. If you hadn't figured it out by now, Vandy really missed what Andre brings to the table last season.

Can't say enough good things about Andre Walker
He’s filling the gaps across three different positions and doing way more than what shows up on the stat sheet – which is a lot. I didn’t realize how much the team missed him last year. I’m (relatively) surprised that Festus/Tchiengang had such low numbers…I thought they made more of an impact than that.
Incredibly balanced
I’ve been a Vandy bball fan for over 10 years and this is possibly the most balanced team since Freije in 03-04, arguably more balanced. Every year we seem to have good shooting guards (alla Foster), but never enough strength down low. This year it almost seems like the opposite – with Ogilvy, Festus, and Tchiengang rotating, we’re incredibly physical. And just like Train Island said, Walker is a beast. If Tinsley, Jenkins, and Beal can keep it up from the outside, we’re gonna be a tough team.
As far as this game, Florida isn’t a great defensive team – I mean, Vandy only had 7 turnovers, which also means that’s all that UF forced. But Vandy did dominate inside, which is needs to become a Trend. Even still, lets not forget Florida beat Mich St and almost beat Syracuse.
I’m thinking upset of those awful wildcats at memorial this year, anyone?
The amazing thing to me...
…is that everything’s so complete. There’s almost 21 feet of thunder down low with the Tchiengang-Ezili-Ogilvy team, there’s breathtaking shooting from Jenkins and Beal, there’s the sledgehammer of Jeffery “Stagger Lee” Taylor (44 dontcha know) and the whatever-it-takes play from Andre Walker…and the adjustments, like the quick-flash-to-Ogilvy stuff to beat the Florida defense to the baseline over and over and over…this team had talent, it was obvious at St. Mary’s (Moraga CA loves the ‘Dores!) but it’s just so much more apparent that everything’s starting to click.
And really, what else can you say about Jenkins? I’m starting to hear his potential compared to another player whose name rhymes with Stride Free…probably too soon for those comparisons, but still, he’s the greatest pure shooter I think I’ve ever seen…

Plus/Minus
My plus/minus scoring may be off. I don’t have time to check it right now, but will go over it a bit later.
Thoughts ...
Florida’s defensive efficiency is ranked #31 by Pomeroy. That’s pretty darn good.
This could be the most balanced team since Will Perdue graduated. That team had Perdue and Kornet down low, and a barrage of three point marksmen outside … not to mention a very good, underrated point guard in Derrick Wilcox. I haven’t seen that kind of balance since.
If Jenkins keeps his rapid pace of ascension to stardom, and Ogilvy stays healthy, this team could have the same dynamic. (Albeit with considerably higher level of talent, if not experience and saavy.)
Most surprising thing to me in the +/- (which I love like chocolate) is that Beal had a 0 sum game yesterday. So, we were +8 with him on the bench! (!!) That’s clearly not typical.
Ogilvy is playing better than he ever has at VU. A.J. with a healthy foot makes me happy like …….. chocolate?
