I'll be working and miss most of this one,

but go ’Dores!

And please, AJ and Dolla, show up this time. Your days of disappearing against UT are over.

"And with the 15th pick, the Tennessee Titans select..."

Tough Luck

We’ll be in here if you catch a few breaks…though if you’re like me, you won’t want to know the score until you watch the replay on the ol’ DVR.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 6:20 PM EST up reply actions

Crap

AJ’s got a foul already. Bring in Fes.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 7:05 PM EST reply actions

Sophomore

and he’s from Oregon.

I think you’re thinking of John Jenkins. He’s from the Hendersonville area of Nashville

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 7:12 PM EST up reply actions

oh right

they were both sought after recruits weren’t they?

by golfballs03 on Jan 27, 2010 7:14 PM EST up reply actions

Yes

Brad originally committed to Pepperdine, but they fired their coach. He wanted to go to UNC, they didn’t offer, so he chose Vandy over Oregon and Wake Forest (if I recall correctly)

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 7:16 PM EST up reply actions

Foul on Prince

not a great decision by B-Tins on the drive, but I’ll take the bailout by the ref.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 7:14 PM EST reply actions

Makeup call for not calling the foul on JoJen

by VandyFanwithaTie on Jan 27, 2010 7:26 PM EST reply actions

Airball

Lucky to get one of those from Wayne

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 7:36 PM EST reply actions

Dre stepping up.

Good to see eafter his showing against Auburn.

by VandyFanwithaTie on Jan 27, 2010 7:38 PM EST reply actions

rebounding

We’ve got to start getting some offensive rebounds…

by doredarling on Jan 27, 2010 7:40 PM EST reply actions

doing better now. kind of.

by doredarling on Jan 27, 2010 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

It's been a really weird game

No flow to it, really. AJ has been absent as usual vs. the Vols.

by VolnVA on Jan 27, 2010 7:46 PM EST reply actions

AJ

he’s been absent in the first half of most of our games…

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 7:47 PM EST up reply actions

The lack of flow is really bugging me…but it might be good for us.

by doredarling on Jan 27, 2010 7:48 PM EST up reply actions

I don't know...

I think VU is more athletic and fluid than the Vols in their current state…

by VolnVA on Jan 27, 2010 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

J.P. Prince

He always has big games against us…and this appears to be no exception.

by doredarling on Jan 27, 2010 7:50 PM EST reply actions

Our second half team...

…needs to come out strong. AJ will be back, and I hope it doesn’t take too long for him to get going.

by doredarling on Jan 27, 2010 7:53 PM EST reply actions

Not sure how I feel about the quick whistles

Benefitted us so far…but I’m not sure that stays that way on the road

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 8:10 PM EST reply actions

The consolation there is that they aren’t shooting much better at the charity stripe.

by doredarling on Jan 27, 2010 8:13 PM EST up reply actions

Worst officiated game ever

Tennessee and Vanderbilt fans might be able to make peace over this common enemy.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 8:34 PM EST reply actions

Just a really weird, choppy, ugly game

I think all the foul calls are working against Vandy right now. The lack of flow is preventing them from running offense like the 2nd half against Auburn.

by VolnVA on Jan 27, 2010 8:34 PM EST reply actions

I could swear

You may be the most pro-Vandy UT fan (during a Vandy-UT game) I’ve ever met. Is it cause you’re living in Virginia?

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 8:35 PM EST up reply actions

It's the Vanderbilt degree hanging on my wall

Knoxville kid, Vandy grab, hence the split loyalties…

by VolnVA on Jan 27, 2010 8:36 PM EST up reply actions

Vandy grad

Hopefully they will forgive me the terrible typo…

by VolnVA on Jan 27, 2010 8:37 PM EST up reply actions

No worries

Especially since you can’t edit comments

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 8:38 PM EST up reply actions

48-51 UT

Another foul. 4th on Jeff.

DAMMIT

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 8:37 PM EST reply actions

3 Guards

Tinsley comes on to replace Jeff.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 8:37 PM EST reply actions

I just don't see how VU won't win this game

They are better than this UT team, especially with the foul problems.

by VolnVA on Jan 27, 2010 8:45 PM EST reply actions

You're right

and I hope you’re right on the prediction.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 8:46 PM EST up reply actions

could this game set a record for fouls called?

by bloggywo on Jan 27, 2010 8:49 PM EST reply actions

Coaching Staff

thinks Festus will settle in at a 65% clip from here on out. Obviously factoring in his earlier misses, his average won’t get that high…

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 9:03 PM EST up reply actions

Not a great time to foul

with 5 seconds on the shot clock. Hopson fouls out.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 9:02 PM EST reply actions

terrible rebounding

by bloggywo on Jan 27, 2010 9:04 PM EST reply actions

up 8, 1 minute left. get the ball into jenkins hands

by bloggywo on Jan 27, 2010 9:05 PM EST reply actions

AJ can't go for that steal

and leave his man wide open around the rim. Kentucky will rape us that way.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 9:05 PM EST reply actions

get the board. dont let them set up the press

by bloggywo on Jan 27, 2010 9:06 PM EST reply actions

That Ref

Didn’t know what he was going to call until well after the whistle.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 9:07 PM EST reply actions

allright jeff, here we go

by bloggywo on Jan 27, 2010 9:07 PM EST reply actions

I’m watching with two UT fans…their faces are priceless.

by doredarling on Jan 27, 2010 9:08 PM EST reply actions

we got it! big win!

by bloggywo on Jan 27, 2010 9:09 PM EST reply actions

I thought VU would win

And they did. As a VU grad, I’m excited about the possibilities. As a UT fan, I’m nervous about what the last 2 games signal for the remainder of the season.

by VolnVA on Jan 27, 2010 9:10 PM EST reply actions

Awesome win

Game wasn’t on in Atlanta, so can’t wait to read the write ups.

by GTwill on Jan 27, 2010 9:11 PM EST reply actions

Congrats guys

You guys came out and took it to us in the 2nd half. You were definitely the better team. Hopefully we can repay you in a couple weeks.

It's simple Cubs in the spring and summer, Vols in the fall and winter.

by cubvol on Jan 27, 2010 9:12 PM EST reply actions

I’m so happy to see that we can get it done on the road…that’s huge! Now we’ll just have to keep it up on Saturday…then we’ll have most of our tough opponents at home. What a night to be a Commodore fan!

by doredarling on Jan 27, 2010 9:12 PM EST reply actions

Can't ever remember...

…any team that corrects in the second half better than this.

If this happens again Saturday night…this could be a really, really special year.

Hey-ooooo

Nice win. Anyone see the commercial for the VU/UK game Saturday featuring Jeff Taylor? Hoooo boy, gonna start drinking early for that one.

by Train Island on Jan 27, 2010 10:28 PM EST reply actions

OK

to be honest, I thought Vandy was ok tonight. I think they have potential to be better. They probably could have won by more, but I thought Tennessee looked pretty bad. What are your thoughts?

by golfballs03 on Jan 27, 2010 10:40 PM EST reply actions

Agreed.

Tennessee really, really needs Hopson to start asserting himself more (especially while Chism is out). For a stretch it looked like he might do that all season long. If he can be a little more consistent, I like Pearl’s chances of righting the ship.

Vandy didn’t play their best by any stretch. A lot of that had to do with UT. Both teams seemed really psyched up and I think that worked to their disadvantages.

Also, the refs were way too whistle happy in my opinion, and that obviously worked to Vandy’s advantage…though that has tended to be the case for us all season due to being aggressive on offense and in the interior.

by KingJamesIV on Jan 27, 2010 10:48 PM EST up reply actions

interesting you say that

according to Ken Pomeroy (http://kenpom.com/expsked.php?team=Vanderbilt) there is a positive correlation between the # of free throws that opponents shoot to Vanderbilt’s offensive efficiency. Kind of counter-intuitive, huh?
